Emma Cohalla earns “Scottie Athlete of the Week” honors after a strong performance last week on the volleyball court for Highland as the team went 3-2 in action and improved to 11-2 on the season.
Cohalla last week finished with nine or more kills in all five matches the Scotties played. Against Johnson County in a tough four set loss Cohalla recorded 14 kills, an ace, three assists and three digs. The Scotties put together a strong showing at the Kirkwood Invitational over the weekend going 3-1 with pair of wins over Top 15 teams and Cohalla performed well in those matches, also. She totaled 40 kills in the tournament with 13 coming against Kirkwood in a four set win. In addition to her 40 kills she add seven digs, six blocks and three aces during the Tournament.
On the season Cohalla leads the team in kills with 147, averaging 3.2 kills per set, while she has added 11 aces, 11 assists, 22 digs and 21 blocks which is second on the team. Her 147 kills ranks her 23rd in the Nation in Division II, while she is third in the KJCCC in kills and ninth in kills per set.
