Jacob Rominger, sophomore linebacker out of Overland Park, KS, had his best defensive performance of the year Saturday against the #13 team in the Nation. Rominger recorded 7 tackles, one for a loss and two key interceptions in the Scotties 26-21 victory over the Hutchinson Blue Dragons.
Rominger's first interception came in the third quarter when the Blue Dragons were inside the Highland redzone. A tipped pass sent the ball into the air and Rominger was able to go up and get the interception and stop a Hutchinson score.
His second interception came with 2:30 left in the game after the Scotties regained the lead. Hutch was faced with a 3rd and 17 and the quarterback threw a low ball down the middle and Rominger dove to his left and came up with his second pick of the day. That pick would seal the game for Highland and help them to defeat their second ranked opponent of the season.
With the help of Rominger, Highland is 4-1 overall and ranked #20 in the NJCAAÂ Poll. The Scotties will relax this week on their bye week and head to El Dorado, KS to take on the Grizzlies on October 8th at 7:00pm.
Congratulations Jacob on a great performance!
