Taiveyhon Mason earns “Scottie Athlete of the Week” honors after he helped the men’s basketball team go 3-0 last week with wins over Missouri Southern State JV on the road and neutral site wins over Neosho County CC and Louisiana Christian Prep at the Gladbach Classic in Fort Scott moving Highland to 4-0 this season.

Mason and the Scotties opened last week with a 106-41 win over MSSU JV on the road a game in which the sophomore point guard tallied 25 points on 10-14 shooting including 4-6 from three-point range. He added three rebounds, two assists and a steal in the win. Against Neosho County in a 79-69 win he notched a career high 27 points and shot 9-15 from the floor and 8-10 from the free throw line while adding six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Mason finished the week with his third straight 20+ point performance as he dropped 22 points in a 98-58 win over Louisiana Christian Prep. Mason was 10-13 from the floor in the win finishing with three rebounds, three steals and one assist.

Mason in four games this season is averaging 22.8 points per game while shooting 64.9% from the floor. He’s added 3.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.5 steals per game to his stat line on top of his scoring.
