Luiz Machado Jr. earns “Scottie Athlete of the Week” honors helping the #7 Highland Men’s basketball team improve to 11-0 last week by picking up three wins beating Southeast CC, Washburn JV and John Wood CC.

Machado continues to put forth strong performances to help the Scotties this season as he rattled off three more double figure scoring games last week making it five-straight games with double figures. Against Southeast he tallied 10 points, grabbed three rebounds and had one assist in the win at home 103-71. Highland then traveled Johnson County for a pair of neutral site games on Friday and Saturday and beat Washburn JV 107-78 and John Wood 88-63. Machado dropped 19 points on 6-8 shooting & 4-6 from three-point range against Washburn JV adding four rebounds and three assists. He capped the week with a 10 point performance with three rebounds, three steals and an assist against John Wood.

On the season Machado is the second leading scorer on the team averaging 12.4 points per game on 45.7% shooting, while adding 3.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
