Bella Konieczka earns “Scottie Athlete of the Week” honors after a strong week on the diamond for the Highland softball team helping them go 3-1 in action.
Konieczka put together a solid week for the Scotties as she continues to anchor the top of the order. She was the only Scottie to get a hit in the lone loss of the week at Iowa Western as she recorded two hits, drew a pair of walks and stole four bases in the game. She followed that up by going 1-3 with a run scored, walk and RBI in the Highland win over Iowa Western. In the series with Coffeyville, Konieczka had four hits, three runs scored, an RBI, a walk and two stolen bases in the two wins.
On the season the freshman is batting .452 with 38 hits, 38 runs scored, two doubles, 10 RBI, 18 walks and 28 stolen bases. She lead the Conference in stolen bases and ranks third in runs scored and walks and seventh in batting average, while in the Nation she ranks sixth in stolen bases, 13th in walks and 18th in runs scored.
