Nick Schifftner earns “Scottie Athlete of the Week” after helping the Highland baseball team pick up three wins last week over Labette to win their first Conference games of the season.
Schifftner was big in the series for the Scotties as he was 9-14 at the plate with seven runs scored, nine RBI’s, three home runs, a double two walks and a stolen base, while playing right field, left field and making a pitching appearance to earn a save in the series finale against Labette.
In the series opener against Labette, Schifftner was 4-4 with a home run, double, four RBI’s, two runs scored and a stolen base and in the series finale he went 2-4 with three RBI’s, a home run, run scored and earned the save tossing the final inning of the game.
On the season Schifftner leads the team in batting average as he hitting .330 with 35 hits, team high 21 RBI’s and has 19 runs scored. He has nine doubles, a triple and four home runs, along with six walks, while on the mound he’s made 10 appearances tossing 10 innings and has picked up four saves.
