Jorge Guerrero is this weeks ‘Athlete of the Week’ after his incredible performance at the Fort Hays Tiger Open last Saturday. In a race that had seven ranked teams competing, Jorge proved to be one of the top runners in the conference. Finishing in 6^th place, Jorge ran a 26:00 flat 8000 meter (4.97 miles). That race put Jorge in 3^rd place all time at HCC in the 8K.
 
Head Cross Country Coach Chad Clevenger had this to say about Jorge, “Jorge had a very good last two weeks of training in between races.  I was thrilled with his effort at Fort Hays. He was prepared to run fast and he ran a very smart race; probably one of the smartest races he’s run here! He’s got his sights set at the school record and I feel he is a very good threat to hit that mark!”

This is Jorge’s third top 6 finish this season. He will be competing on Monday, October 17 at the Olie Isom Invitational in El Dorado, KS.
 
The Highland men finished in 5^th place overall with an average of 27:02.
