Chevelle Sartin earns "Scottie Athlete of the Week" honors after a strong performance to open the season for Highland softball as the Scotties went 3-2 at the Hinds Classic.

Sartin paced the way for the Scotties to start the year picking up from where she left off her freshman year by hitting .625 in five games with 10 hits and 12 RBI.

Sartin got the season rolling with a pair of home runs in the 9-8 win over Northwest Mississippi as she was 2-3 with three RBI, two runs scored. She added another home run and four total RBI in the win over Southwest Mississippi and wrapped up the tournament with a 5-5 showing against Parkland hitting two doubles and two home runs, finishing with three RBI and four runs scored.

In the five games Sartin was 10-16 with seven extra base hits (two doubles and five home runs), eight runs scored, 12 RBI, three hit by pitches and a stolen base finishing with a .625 batting average, .650 on base percentage and 1.688 slugging percentage.
