Box Score The 4-0 Highland Volleyball team traveled to Ottumwa, IA to face the D1 #7 Indian Hills Community College in a non-conference match-up on Wednesday evening.
Both teams came out hot on the Warriors home court but the Scotties kept the momentum on their side to earn the first two sets over the Warriors 27-25, 25-22.
The Warriors changed up their offensive strategy and were able to scoot by Highland winning the next three sets 19-25, 21-25, 13-15.
There was no stopping sophomore middle blocker
Zealia Kleitz as she put down career high 20 kills on 37 attempts hitting a .405, had five blocks, and nine digs.
Leslie Polanco was reliable througout the match picking up 17 digs, 12 kills, and one service ace.
Kirsten Johnson had an impressive showdown in the libero position passing up career high 25 digs. Sophomore
Koie Orozco stayed consistent on the right side putting down 6 kills on 11 attempts with no errors hitting her best kill percentage at .545.
Katie Pearson had yet another game leading the Scotties in the setter position with 13 digs, 30 set assists, and two blocks on the match.
Emma Cohalla and
Tyah Barnett both came up with nine and seven kills each and setter
Ellie Smith dished out 18 set assists.
The now 4-1Â Highland team is hosting their volleyball tournament this weekend September 1 and 2nd. They will face Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and Southwestern CC at 1:00 and 5:00 on Friday and MCC-Longview and Ellsworth CC at 9:00AM and 1:00PM on Saturday in Walters Wellness Center.
