Box Score Highland hosted the Labette Cardinals in their Wednesday night match up. The Scotties were looking to find their momentum again after a loss to the #5 Coffeyville Red Ravens. Highland starting the game on a high and never let down to take the match 3-0.
The Cardinals were off to a three point run to start the set but the three Scottie sophomores put the ball down to help a six point run before Labette called a timeout.
Zealia Kleitz controlled the offense the rest of the set with six to help the Scotties win 25-14.
Highland started the second set with three kills by
Carrie Fisher,
Koie Orozco, and Kleitz. Kleitz with three of the next four points to lead 8-2 and a timeout was called by the Cardinals.
Emma Cohalla and orozco put down a big block pushing the score 15-5. Scotties call a timeout to re-group as they were ahead 19-8. Two kills in a row and an ace by Wagner would win the second set 25-10.
There was a battle early in the 3
rd set with Cardinals not backing down with Highland only leading 12-9. Â Two kills in a row by Kleitz opened the gap 17-12 for the Scotties. Highland had control the rest of the match to win 25-21.
The defense had a big game led by sophomore Orozco with 13 digs and libero
Kirsten Johnson with 12.
Leslie Polanco had yet another big game during her sophomore season with nine digs and 19 kills hitting an impressive .412. Kleitz had her 11
th game of the season with double digit kills with 15 with a .371 hitting percentage.
Katie Pearson continues to show leadership on the court putting up 40 set assists. The team had their best hitting percentage of the season with .321.
The Scotties will travel to Chanute, KS to participate in the Neosho Tournament on Friday the 29
th and Saturday the 30
th.
