The Highland Softball team improved to 13-2 on the season after taking the two-game sweep of conference foe Kansas City Kansas CC on Tuesday afternoon, 9-4 and 12-2.

Game One:
Highland struck early in game one scoring three runs in the second inning and another four runs in the fourth, taking a 7-0 lead, while keeping the Blue Devils scoreless through four complete innings.

Kansas City Kansas came alive in the fifth inning scoring four runs, three of which came off a three-run homerun by K. Arnzen. Blue Devils closed the gap 7-4.

Highland added two insurance runs in the sixth inning with a
Kendra Baldridge two RBI double. Ortega would close the game in the circle and Highland took game one 9-4.

Kelly Uthe got her third win of the season as a starting pitcher going 4.2 innings giving up four runs off eight hits. She struck out four and walked one.

Kendra Baldridge had a day at the plate going 2-4 with four RBI's and one run scored.
Cassidy Greer and
Alyssa Wesley each had one RBI in the game.

Game Two:

The Scottie bats were on fire in game two scoring eight runs on the first inning.

Sydney Anderson set the tone with a three-run homerun that was a no doubter leaving the bat. The next at bat,
Aubry Hernandez followed suit and hit a solo shot over left centerfield giving Highland a 4-0 lead.
Kami Zimmerman scored on an error increasing the Highland lead to 5-0, then
Cassidy Greer hit an RBI single and
Kendra Baldridge hit a two-RBI double giving Highland an 8-0 lead after the first inning.

Kami Zimmerman wanted in on the action and hit a three-run homerun in the bottom of the second to boost Highland's lead to 11-0 after the first two innings.
Sydney Anderson hit an RBI double in the third tacking on one more and the Scotties led 12-0 after three.

Kansas City Kansas managed to score two runs in the fourth inning but it wasn't enough and Highland got the win by run-rule after the fifth winning 12-2.

Raegan Hamm got the win in the circle for Highland allowing no runs off two hits. She walked zero and struck out three batters.

Sydney Anderson finished 2-3 with four RBI's in game two.
Kami Zimmerman added in three RBI's finishing 1-2 with a walk and a run scored.

The Scotties will travel to Independence this Friday, March 16 to take on the Pirates at 2:00pm & 4:00pm and then head to Arkansas City, KS to face Cowley College on Saturday at 1:00pm and 3:00pm.
