Last week was packed with top notch opponents for the Highland volleyball team and the Scotties posted a 3-2 performance in five matches to move to 23-6 on the season.
The new NJCAA Division II rankings have been released and the Scotties slip in the rankings to #10 this week falling three spots. The Top 10 ranking does make it 15 straight polls that the Scotties have been ranked in the Top 10.
Five other KJCCC schools are also ranked with four of the five in the Top 10 with the Scotties, as Coffeyville remains #2, while Cowley shot up six spots to #4. Fort Scott checks in again at #6 this week, while Johnson County slips to #7 and Cloud County remains in the polls moving down one spot to #13.
Highland for the fourth straight year has won over 20 matches and five of the six Scottie losses to currently ranked teams in Coffeyville, Johnson County, Fort Scott, Western Nebraska and Parkland.
Offensively the Scotties have continually had contributions from many different girls as Highland has a trio of players with over 240 kills each and one more with over 100 kills on the season as the Scotties have 1,131 kills which rank ninth in the Nation. The average of 12.16 kills per set for the Scotties is good for 10
th best in the Nation. Highland also ranks 10
th in the in Nation in assists (1,049) and assists per set (11.28).
On defense the Scotties have tallied 1,484 digs on the season with 15.96 per set, as the Scotties have six players with 110+ digs on the season including three with over 230 each. Highland also has 175 total blocks with 145 being solo blocks a number that is ninth best in the Nation.
Season rolls along on the road for Highland on Friday, October 11
th in Concordia, Kansas at the Cloud County Triangular as the Scotties will play Southeast and Cloud County.
