IOLA, Kan. - Opening a two-game road swing against tough Jayhawk Conference opposition, Highland (23-4, 3-2 KJCCC) claimed a big win on Wednesday, handing no. 24 Allen (14-5, 3-2 KJCCC) a 3-1 (24-26, 25-18, 25-20, 27-25) defeat.
Cali Honeyman had a season-best night for the Scotties, recording 22 kills and adding a pair of block assists.
Facing off against its sixth nationally-ranked opponent of the year and third KJCCC foe in the top 25, Highland battled hard through the first set, forcing it short into extra points.
After the setback, however, the Scotties drew on their experience at no. 1 Cowley and rallied to tie the match at 1-1 in the second before delivering the reverse sweep to the Red Devils.
Highland is back on the road Friday, taking on no. 9 Johnson County in a 6 p.m. first serve.
