KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Closing out the regular season on Wednesday, Highland (28-8, 5-4 KJCCC) found itself taking on no. 5 Kansas City (Kan.) Community College (22-5, 8-1 KJCCC).
Cali Honeyman managed a double-double - 13 kills, 14 digs - for the Scotties, but it wasn't enough to keep KCKCC from claiming the Jayhawk Conference title in a 3-0 (17-25, 20-25, 18-25) match.
After being held to a - 0.021 hitting percentage in the first set, Highland found some success in the second (0.214) and third (0.143), but couldn't overcome the solid blocks from KCKCC.
The Scotties finish the regular season with a 5-4 record in Jayhawk Conference play, edging Allen County for the fifth overall seed. Highland advances to the NJCAA Plains District A championship, and will face no. 4 seed Neosho County on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
