IOLA, Kan. - Hoping to put themselves in position to qualify for the NJCAA Region 6/9 Championship, the Scotties (4-10-3, 2-7-1 KJCCC) were able to pull back to a 1-1 halftime tie at Allen County (7-7-1, 2-6-1 KJCCC) on Wednesday, but an 89th-minute goal left Highland on the outside looking in.
The Red Devis opened the scoring in the 35th minute, with Mylee Schroeder collecting a pass from Jillian Muehlberger and putting a shot past
McKenna Glade.
Ashley Romero equalized for Highland in the 40th minute, making the final 45 minutes critical.
Allen found the better of the offensive chances in the second half, recording seven shots to just four for Highland, with Priya Stanger eventually finding a late game-winner for Allen.
Highland finishes the 2025 season with a record of 4-10-3, improving across the board statistically. The Scotties scored 26 goals on the season, notching three additional goals in two fewer matches. Defensively, Highland allowed just 25 goals on the year compared to 92 in 2024.
