Season-High Hitting Percentage Delivers Highland Sweep Over Labette

HIGHLAND, Kan. - In an across-the-board dominant performance, Highland (16-3, 2-1 KJCCC) swept past Labette (13-7, 1-2 KJCCC) on Wednesday night. The Scotties posted a season-high hitting percentage of .314 and added nine service aces to run out 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-12) winners.

The match was back and forth through the opening points of the first set, but a three-point swing with Cami Dalinghaus at the service line opened a 10-6 lead for Highland. After the short surge, the Scotties pushed a 6-0 run through a Labette timeout to extend to a 17-9 lead.

Labette was able to muster a 6-0 run of its own, but a kill by Cara Elam stopped the surge and Highland finished out the first set.

An 11-1 run by the Scotties highlighted by a pair of Jaala Stewart service aces put the second set out of reach early, allowing Highland to coast through a 6-0 run from Labette down the stretch.

Highland's dominance continued into the third set, as back-to-back service aces by Hallie Holthaus wrapped up a 6-0 run to give the Scotties a 9-5 lead. HCC kept Labette from connecting more than two points at a time and used a nine-point run to open a 21-9 lead.

The Scotties take a brief detour from KJCCC action on Friday, hosting Bethany College and the University of Saint Mary. First serve in the triangular is set for 3 p.m.
