Scotties Earn 0-0 Draw Against Pratt

HIGHLAND, Kan. - Highland (0-3-3, 0-0-1 KJCCC) dominated possession and created the lion's share of positive offensive chances in the match, but was unable to secure a win in its KJCCC opener. The Scotties finished 0-0 against Pratt (2-3-1, 0-0-1 KJCCC) on Saturday.

Highland got off to a brisk start in the first half, with Paige Carrier forcing a pair of ninth-minute saves by Gabriela Nicole Estep. Della Arnold's shot into traffic was saved by a Pratt defender in the 15th minute, then Suri Escobedo nearly put HCC on the board in the 17th as she collected a second-chance effort following a shot by Carrier.

Valerie Salazar came close to putting the Scotties up 1-0 in the 66th minute, as her shot from 20 yards out tested Estep's reach. The Pratt keeper was able to get both hands behind the shot but couldn't secure it as it was over her head. She was able to recover before Salazar could make it to the loose ball.

Pratt was finally able to assemble a group of solid chances in the waning moments of the contest, but McKenna Glade was well up to the challenge. The Loveland, Colo., freshman had back-to-back stops in the 69th and 70th minutes, also turning away a shot by Mick Keeldar in the 75th.

Highland returns home on Wednesday to take on Neosho County Community College. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
