Connor Sevier

A native of Wichita, Kansas, Connor Sevier joins the Scotties for his first season as an Assistant Coach. Sevier comes from Lake Region State College, where he served as the Assistant Men’s and Women’s basketball coach, as well as a part-time professor on campus. In his time at Lake Region, Sevier coached four total All-Conference players including his first Division 1 commit, Kelsey Crossan, who is now playing at Gardner-Webb University.

Before Lake Region, Sevier was a Graduate Assistant for the Wichita State University Men’s Basketball team for two seasons. His responsibilities included assisting the coaches with day-to-day activities, conducting individual workouts with players, coordinating recruiting visits, helping with team meals, assisting with all video aspects, and overseeing the undergraduate team managers. During those two seasons, he worked closely with the AAC’s defensive player of the year, Dexter Dennis (Cleveland Charge), and the AAC’s 6th man of the year, Ricky Council IV (Philadelphia 76ers). As well as current NBA and G League players such as: Craig Porter Jr. (Cleveland Cavaliers), and Tyson Etienne (College Park Skyhawks).

Sevier was a two time All-League player in high school, and went on to play at NAIA McPherson College. A series of knee injuries ended his career after one season, which prompted his transfer to the University of Kansas to focus on school, which then led to his start in coaching. He began coaching back home in Wichita with Perry Ellis Elite, and during his final year of college he was able to work for MoKan Basketball in Overland Park, Kansas.

Sevier and his dog Pete, named after the great “Pistol Pete” Maravich, reside in Highland.
