Coach Delong comes to Highland after completing his playing career at Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville where he pitched for the Cougars throwing 136.1 innings with an 8-11 record, 135 strikeouts and a 6.34 ERA. He earned 2 conference pitcher of the week honors during his time at SIU-E as well. Before SIU-E he pitched for Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN where he threw 58.2 innings for the Govs with a 5-5 record, 57 strikeouts and a 6.29 ERA. Tyler played junior college baseball at Hutchinson Community College of the KJCCC-West and was a two-way star for the Blue Dragons. He compiled an 8-1 record on the mound, 74 strikeouts, 6 saves and a 4.55 ERA in 63.1 innings pitched. Coach Delong holds a Bachelor's Degree in Integrated Studies from SIU-E with focus areas in Sports Psychology and Business Administration. His primary responsibilities for the Scotties will be to oversee the development of the pitching staff, recruit and assist in all other day to day operations of the program.
