Josie Vitosh, a 6’ setter from Odell, Nebraska, helped to lead her team in a victorious tournament this past weekend in Chanute, KS. The team went 4-0 on the weekend beating all 4 teams in 3 straight sets. Vitosh is not only a setter; she hits right side and plays backrow defense as well. She was reliable in all 6 positions at the Panther tournament. In four games, Vitosh hit 11 kills with only 1 error on 35 attempts resulting an impressive .306 hitting percentage. She added in seven set assists, two service aces, 32 digs, and four blocks on the weekend.
Josie also played a big part in the Scotties win over #14 ranked Fort Scott Community College earlier in the week. Vitosh not only recorded 1 kill, 3 set assists, 1 service ace, and 7 digs, she also was a key player in keeping the momentum flowing on their side of the court. Vitosh is looked at as the vocal leader of the team and has been a dependable sophomore on the court.
The Scottie volleyball team will take on the Neosho Panthers on Wednesday, October 5, in Ben Allen Field House at 5:30pm. This game will be dedicated to breast cancer awareness. Student Life will have Dig Pink t-shirts available.
Congrats, Josie, on a great weekend! We look forward to watching you compete the rest of the season!
