Victor Sanchez earns “Scottie Athlete of the Week” honors after helping the Scottie baseball team win their second game of the season and compete against Cowley last week.

Sanchez led a strong offensive attack for the Scotties in a 15-13 win over Rockhurst University JV for Highland’s second win of the season as the freshman shortstop was 4-4 at the plate with a grand slam. The grand slam came late in the ballgame and swung the lead to the Scotties which they ultimately held onto for the win. In the contest Sanchez on top of his grand slam had three doubles, four RBI’s and two runs scored.

The freshman in the series with Cowley registered four hits and a pair of RBI’s as the Scotties competed against the Tigers in KJCCC action.

On the season Sanchez is batting .309 with 25 hits, including six doubles and one home run and has 13 RBI’s.
