The Scotties jumped out to a 30-12 first quarter lead and never looked back as they won their seventh straight of the season defeating William Penn University Junior Varsity 109-52.

It was a hot shooting night for the Lady Scotties as they went 62% from the field and 53% from behind the arc knocking down 14 out of 26 attempts on their way to triple digits on the night.

Freshman point guard
Blaize Burgess had a big night scoring 23 points and leading all scorers on the night. Burgess went 8-11 shooting from the floor, 7-9 behind the three-point line; tying her for second in HCC history for threes in a game.

Mariane Carvalho reached her scoring average for the season with 19 points and four assists on the evening.
Ashlyn McDonald chipped in 15 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Szonja Vukov and
Tiana Cook also put up double digits on the night with 11 and 10. Vukov almost reached a triple double on the night with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists.

Highland out rebounded William Penn 43 to 17 and the Highland bench combined for 60 points on the night, one of the best outings from the HCC bench players this season.

Highland is now 7-0 on the year and will take on Bacone College JV in day two of the HCC Scottie Classic on Saturday at 4pm.
