Highland, a team with nine of their eleven players who had never played a possession of KJCCC basketball, didn't disappoint in front of the home crowd as they climbed to victory over Johnson County CC 71-57 Wednesday night in Ben Allen Field House.

After leading by 11 with three minutes to go in the first half, Johnson County battled back and cut the Highland lead to only three to head into the locker room.

That didn't faze the Scotties as the came out of halftime and went on a 16-5 run to start the second half. After that, the Cavaliers tried to play catch-up the rest of the way and were held to shooting 33% from the floor and 22% from three in the second half.

Freshman guard
Dontre English lead all scorers on the night with 17 points on 7-11 shooting. He was followed closely by freshman teammate
Jaquan Daniels who scored nine in the first half and five in the second to end the night with 14 points and three rebounds.
Andre Jackson added eight points and six boards while
Kamaal Davis got into double digits in rebounds with 10 and scored six points.
D'Juan Scudder had a solid night adding in seven points and seven boards.

Highland, 15-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference, will host Kansas City Kansas CC, who made an appearance at the National Tournament last season, on Wednesday, at 7:30pm in Ben Allen Field House.
