It was a tough finish to a hard-fought game Saturday afternoon in Ben Allen Field House for the Scottie Men's Basketball team. After leading for the first 38 minutes of the game, Labette came out on top in the final two minutes and defeated the Scotties 76-74.
 
A 13-point halftime lead would not be enough for Highland to hold on as the Cardinals shot 68% from the floor and 100% from three-point range in the second half. Highland's 9-27 from the field would not be enough to stop the Cardinals.
 
Stephon Jackson led all scorers with 24 points, 6-11 from three. Dontre English finished with 12 points and Collin Jasper added 10.
 
The Cardinals were led by Brandon Loville who finished with 17 points and five steals. Frank Royles and Tyriq Gunnels both scored 15 points each.
 
The Scotties are now 16-7 overall and 3-3 in Region VI competition. They will head to Johnson County CC on Wednesday and take on the Cavaliers. Highland defeated the Cavaliers 71-57 at home on January 23 and will look to duplicate that performance on Wednesday at 7:30pm in Overland Park.
