The Highland Community College baseball team defeated the Baker University junior varsity Wildcats on Tuesday afternoon 14-5 for win number 16 on the year.

After a slow start, Highland got on the board in the third inning with a
Wyatt Nowack RBI single. They tacked on four more in the fourth on the bats of
Phoenix Keller and
Mitchell Austin. Keller hit a two-RBI single that scored
Adam Miner and
Cole Hijaz while Austin reached on a fielder's choice that brought home a run scoring Keller and
Anthony Nichols scored from third on a throwing error.

The Wildcats answered back scoring two in the fifth as Joe McNally hit a two-RBI single to center filed that scored Stuart and Mike Owen.

Jacob Hanson would hit homerun number four on the year in the bottom of the fifth to extend the Highland lead 6-2.

The Wildcats cut the lead in half in the top of the sixth as Dillon Prokop hit a solo homerun and Weston Gloss hit an RBI single scoring Sam Marks.

Highland added another run in the bottom of the sixth but Baker answered with a Joe McNally solo homerun in the seventh.

A six-run bottom of the seventh was started off by
Phoenix Keller who hit an RBI double scoring
Adam Miner.
Keishon Brown was hit by a pitch bringing home Brian Taylor giving Highland a 9-5 lead.
Wyatt Nowack singled to centerfield scoring Brown and Nichols and Nowack was able to score after
Cole Hijaz reached on a throwing error. Highland led 13-5 heading into the eighth inning.

A solo
Phoenix Keller homerun would round out the scoring for the night and Highland would walk away with the win 14-5 over the Baker University Wildcats.

Phoenix Keller went 3-5 with four RBI's and two runs scored.
Wyatt Nowack finished 2-5 with three RBI's and
Jacob Hanson finished 3-4 with an RBI and two-runs scored.
Yadiel Pacheco got the victory going 5.1 innings giving up four runs on six hits. He walked four and struck out six.

Highland will take on Independence CC in the final series of the season. They will play at Independence on Friday at 2:00pm & 4:00pm and will host the Pirates on Saturday, the Scotties final double-header of the season and sophomore day, at 2:00pm & 4:00pm in Highland.
