Box Score 2 Head Coach Heidi Jordan and Associate Head Coach Scott Jordan recorded win No. 450 at Highland Community College in dominating fashion with a 23-4 victory over the Hesston larks Saturday afternoon at Scottie Park. The Jordan's, in their 13 seasons coaching the Scottie Softball program, have accumulated an overall record of 451-198 and have made an appearance in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament six out of the last seven years. Congratulations to the both of them on hitting win No. 450.
GAME 1
The Scottie Softball team showed up to win big on Saturday afternoon as they won 23-4 over the Hesston Larks in game one.
The Scotties jumped all over the Larks early as they scored eight runs in the first inning. Julisa Ortega started out the game pitching but Haley Donaldson stepped on the mound in the second inning and would eventually end the game with the win. The last 15 runs of the game were scored off of walks as the Larks could not get out of the innings.
Haley Donaldson led the team with four RBI'S going 3-of-3 on the game. Sam Moran and Maddy Miller each hit three RBI's and Kaori Corn went 2 for 3.
The team is now tied for second all-time with runs scored in a game with 23 runs. They tied with the 2008 softball team as they scored 23 runs against Brown Mackie and the 2016 team sits atop the record board as they scored 25 runs in a game last season.
GAME 2
Game two showed to be uneventful from the offense as neither teams could get their bats going. Julisa Ortega pitched the whole game and really proved her worth as she got in and out of each inning without any struggle.
Sam Moran, on her birthday, would step up to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning and hit a walk-off single to end the game 1-0.
The Scottie softball team is now 25-7 on the year and 12-4 in conference. Their next scheduled double-header will take place at Fort Scott, Kansas on Tuesday, April 11th at 2:00PM and 4:00PM.
