COLBY, Kan. - Following a 2025 season that saw the Scotties qualify for the NJCAA Plains District Division 2 Softball Championship with a 9-13 league record and 17-26 overall mark, Highland was picked to finish ninth in the Jayhawk Conference this year in polling announced by the league office Monday. HCC earned 49 points, just four shy of Coffeyville and six behind Cloud County.
Defending Plains District Tournament champions and preseason no. 8 Johnson County Community College was tapped first in the KJCCC Predicted Order of Finish, picking up eight of the 11 first-place votes available. 2025 regular-season champs Cowley College nabbed two first-place votes and second in the overall preseason balloting, with Kansas City Kansas Community College ranked third with the final first-place nod.
Highland opens the 2026 season on the road, heading to Burlington, Iowa, for the Southeastern Community College Dome Games. First pitch of the season is set for noon, Friday, Feb. 13 against Des Moines Area Community College.
