The Highland Women's basketball team jumped into 2018 with a 116-37 win over Native Dream to improve to 17-0 on the season.

Highland pieced together three 17-0 runs throughout the first half and took a 64-9 lead heading into the locker room. The Scotties didn't let up in the second as they dominated in every aspect of the contest.

The tenacious Scottie defense forced 33 turnovers in the game and grabbed 22 steals scoring 50 points off turnovers. Highland also out rebounded Native Dream 56-35 while only allowing nine second-chance points.

Berniezha Tidwell led the way offensively scoring 22 points and added in four rebounds and four steals.
Mariane De Caravalho finished with 16 points and five boards while point guard
Blaize Burgess added in 15 points, nine assists and five steals.

Maria Alcantara (11) and
Sydney Brinlee (10) were the other four Scotties to score in double figures in the game.

The Scotties will look to continue their undefeated season this coming Friday as they travel to Lamoni, IA to play Graceland University JV at 5:00pm. They are back at home this coming Sunday, January 14 taking on Gogebic Community College and next Wednesday, January 17 against Southeast in their final non-conference games of the year. KJCCC play picks up Wednesday, January 24 at Labette CC.
