Box Score The streak continues as the Highland volleyball team rolled to a three set win on the road over the newest member to the KJCCC in the Hesston Larks stretching their win streak to 21-straight matches.
Scotties snagged the 3-0 win topping Hesston 25-19, 25-20, 25-13 controlling most of the night and finishing the evening strong with a dominate third set.
Set one saw an early Highland lead but after an 8-8 tie Hesston took the advantage in their favor and held the Scotties at bay until Highland regained the lead at 17-16. From that point Highland finished off the first set outscoring Hesston 8-2 to win the set 25-19.
Set two saw the two team's trade jabs early and the Scotties got a big block from
Hannah Williams to tie the set at 10-10. Scotties worked to a 17-13 lead forcing a Hesston timeout but called a timeout of their own leading only 20-18. Highland then finished the set off with a
Hannah Wagner kill to take set two 25-20.
Highland opened set three in dominate fashion working to an 11-1 lead early in the set and cruising to the set and match win by taking the third set 25-13.
Katie Pearson continued her strong season and set the tone for the Scotties recording 32 assists to move into third for a single season in assists and added a career high 20 digs for her 17
th double-double of the season.
Cajia Allen and
Myla Turner each added double figure digs on the night as Allen recorded 15 and added seven kills, while Turner posted 14 digs.
Emma Cohalla led the team in kills with nine, while
Hannah Wagner had a strong game with eight kills and both
Hannah Williams and
Lee Sexton each had seven kills for a balanced night. Defensively,
Kirsten Johnson and
Amber Hildebrand added seven and six digs each.
The win moves the Scotties to 31-2 on the season giving the team 31 wins for the second straight season, while improving them to 7-1 in KJCCC play. The win also moves Highland's win streak to 21-straight and gives them their fourth consecutive win over Hesston.
Highland returns home for their next contest as they will host Neosho County Community College on Wednesday, October 24
th at 5:30pm at Ben Allen Fieldhouse. The contest will be sophomore night along with Dig Pink event and will be streamed on the Scottie Sports Network.
