Using a strong second half the Highland Men's basketball team snagged their eighth win over the season and remained undefeated behind a 103-74 win over University of St. Mary JV on the road on Wednesday.

After a tight first half that saw the Scotties trailing 44-42 at intermission Highland put together a strong scoring display in the second half dropping 61 points in the half to outscore the Spires on their home floor 61-30 in the second half.

For the fifth time this season Highland recorded a 50% or better shooting night going 36-70 from the floor (51.4%) and shot 40% from three-point range. Scotties also forced 18 St Mary turnovers and held the Spires under 40% shooting as they have all their opponents this season.

A quartet of Scotties paced the team in scoring each posting double figures with Luiz Machado Jr. tallying a career best 23 points going 6-13 from the floor and 9-12 from the free throw line and added nine rebounds. Taiveyhon Mason notched 15 points going 7-14 from the floor, while Amear Johnson and Malik Cushon each hit the double figure plateau with 12 and 11 points. Both Johnson and Cushon each added six rebounds.

As the holiday breaks wraps up Highland is set to host Southeast Community College for their next game on Tuesday, November 27^th at 7:30pm.
