The #4 Highland men's basketball team continue to hold top spot in the KJCCC after a tight win on the road on Saturday against Hesston 89-82.
With the win the Scotties improve to 25-2 on the season and 7-1 in KJCCC play, while picking up their sixth straight win over the Larks in the series.
Scotties led a majority of the contest even holding a 14-point lead at one point but Highland went into intermission up just 35-32 and posted 54 points in the second half but it was still close down the stretch. Free throws down the stretch were crucial for the Scotties to keep Hesston at bay and snag the 89-82 win.
For the 15
th time this season the Scotties shot 50+% as a team in a contest going 32-55 from the floor which is 58.2%, while going 23-37 from the free throw line.
Taiveyhon Mason once again had a strong game going 9-17 from the floor and 9-12 from the free throw line to tallying 28 points while adding seven rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Rashon Johnson had a career best 19 points on 8-10 shooting and added seven rebounds.

Only two games remain in the regular season and #4 Highland will play host to KCK and Fort Scott to put a bow on the regular season next week. Scotties will host KCK on Wednesday, February 20
th at 7:30pm and then Fort Scott on Saturday, February 23
rd at 3:00pm.
