After a tough road loss against Labette the #5 Highland women's basketball team bounced back on Saturday picking up a convincing 94-39 win over Hesston on the road.
The win moves the Scotties to 21-4 on the season and 5-3 in KJCCC play with only two games remaining in the regular season. Win also is the 18
th straight against Hesston.
It didn't take long for the Scotties to take control of the contest against Hesston as Highland posted one of their most lopsided quarters of the year outscoring the Larks 31-9 in the first quarter. By halftime Highland had the game in their back pocket leading 56-21. While the third quarter was tight, Highland capped the game with a 21-6 fourth quarter to secure the 94-39 win.
Scotties shot 56.2% from the floor marking the ninth time this season that Highland has shot over 50% in a game, while the Scotties had 19 steals, only 13 turnovers and forced 40 turnovers by Hesston.
A quartet of double figure scorers paced Highland in the win with
Stefania Chiziane and
Janiya Davis both tallying 21 points in the win. Chiziane finished 9-12 from the floor and added seven rebounds and five steals, while Davis was 10-16 from the floor with two rebounds and two steals.
Tiana Gipson added 16 points with three steals, while
Tuana Dinc scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Only two games remain in the regular season and #5 Highland will play host to KCK and Fort Scott to put a bow on the regular season next week. Scotties will host KCK on Wednesday, February 20
th at 5:30pm and then Fort Scott on Saturday, February 23
rd at 1:00pm.
