The Highland Scotties Women's Basketball team lost a hard-fought battle against the No. 5 ranked Blue Devils of Kansas City Kansas tonight in Highland. The Scotties fell 65-56 to the visitors from KCK.

After KCK closed out the first half with a 17-point lead (39-22), the Scotties opened the second half on an 11-point run. The scoring went back and forth throughout the third and fourth periods until the Scotties mounted a second charge, attempting to wrestle the lead from the Blue Devils.

The Scotties, this time, made 10-point run capped by a GG Smith jumper with 5:28 left in the game to draw Highland within 1 point of KCK. Unfortunately, the Scotties could never close the gap as they fall to 5-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

Highland was led by sophomore GG Smith with 12 points and 16 rebounds. EJ Smith scored 12 points for the Scotties and Kanae Carman added 10 points. Summer Kirkman only had 7 points on the night but added 11 rebounds and provided some excellent defense throughout the evening.

Highland will play at home versus Johnson County on Saturday, March 27 at 1:00 p.m. in Ben Allen Field House. Saturday's game will be Sophomore Day for the Scotties as we celebrate the sophomore's final home game.
