Chanute, Kan. – On Wednesday, Jan. 18, Highland Community College men's and women's basketball teams traveled to Chanute to take on Neosho County Community College.
The Scottie women held a 3-point lead at halftime 33-30. They scored 50-points in the second half to defeat Neosho, 83-74. The largest lead of the game was 2-points at the 09:24 mark of the first quarter when the Scottie women's bench scored 20-points. Highland shot 80% from the free throw line.
The Scottie men led by 1 at the half, 30-29. Both teams scored 39-points in the second half to secure the 1-point win for the Scotties. The largest lead of the game for the Scotties was 3-points at the 19:43 mark in the first half and the bench chipped in 15-points. They shot 41.4% from the field.
The Scottie women had four players score in double figures.
Garneisha Love had 29-points and 12-rebounds.
Kenadi Rising had 17-points and 10-rebounds.
Zoe Wiltz had 11-points and 4-rebounds, and
Joze Baker had 14-points and 6-rebounds.
Im'Unigue lead the Lady Panthers with 20-points and 5-rebounds.
The Scottie men had three players in double figures.
Greg Moore had 27-points and 4-rebounds.
Chris Flippin had 11-points and 10-rebounds, and
RJ Sears had 10-points and 5-rebounds.
Alexander Norris led scoring for Neosho with 22-points.
Highland Community College men's and women's basketball teams are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 21, as they host Allen County Community College . The Scottie women play at 1 p.m. The men tip-off at 3 p.m.
