DODGE CITY, Kan. - In its first road game of the season, Highland (0-4, 0-1 KJCCC) tallied a pair of third-quarter field goals from
Justin Dahlstrom but were unable to secure a win at Dodge City (1-3, 1-1 KJCCC) on Saturday.
Coming out of the halftime break, Highland picked up a big defensive stop on Dodge City's opening drive, with
Francisco Hall dropping Braxton Clark with a five-yard sack on second down, After an incomplete pass on third down and a delay-of-game penalty, the Conquistadors were forced to punt, with Highland taking over on its own 36-yard line.
Highland was able to assemble a seven-play, 48-yard drive over the next 4:05, with Dahlstrom finishing the drive with a 34-yard field goal.
Tramond Dukes put an early stop to Dodge City's ensuing drive, forcing a fumble on a first-down completion, with
Kevin Pollock scooping up the loose ball at midfield.
Highland managed to drive to the Dodge City 8-yard line, but after a pair of incomplete pass attempts, Dahlstrom stepped up for a 27-yard chip shot.
The Scotties continue a two-game road swing, taking on Independence Community College. Kickoff from Shultis Stadium is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
