Cameron McGarry is an accomplished college football coach and recruiter with experience across the NJCAA, NAIA, and Division I levels. Currently serving as the Head Football Coach at Highland Community College, McGarry has quickly established himself as one of the rising young coaches in college football through his success in offensive development, recruiting, quarterback play, and special teams coordination.

McGarry began his collegiate coaching career at Texas Tech University as a Recruiting Assistant from 2019–2021, where he worked closely with recruiting operations, player evaluations, official visits, and player personnel at the Power Five level. His experience at Texas Tech helped develop his foundation in roster management, recruiting strategy, and relationship building.
He later continued his coaching career at Dakota Wesleyan University, serving as a Graduate Assistant working with wide receivers and defensive backs while assisting with special teams, scouting, recruiting, and game planning responsibilities.
McGarry then joined Highland Community College, where he quickly earned expanded responsibilities serving as Wide Receivers Coach, Quarterbacks Coach, Pass Game Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator. During the 2024 season, Highland developed into one of the premier passing offenses in NJCAA football under McGarry’s direction. The Scotties finished:
#3 in the NJCAA in total passing offense with 2,351 passing yards
#4 nationally in passing yards per game at 261.2 yards per game
#2 nationally in passing yards per completion at 16.1 yards per completion
#8 nationally in passing touchdowns with 18 passing touchdowns
#8 nationally in yards per attempt at 8.3 yards per attempt
Top 15 nationally in third down conversions
Produced the #1 quarterback statistically in the KJCCC conference

McGarry played a major role in rebuilding and improving every offensive statistical category from previous seasons while managing the pass game, weekly scouting reports, coverage breakdowns, blitz tendencies, and quarterback development. He also coordinated multiple special teams units while coaching offensive skill positions and assisting in overall offensive game planning.
In addition to on-field success, McGarry established himself as a strong recruiter and talent evaluator. During his time at Highland, he recruited and signed multiple high-level players from across the country, including athletes who later moved on to programs such as Fordham and Troy.

In 2025, McGarry joined Lyon College as the Wide Receivers Coach, Director of Recruiting, and Co-Special Teams Coordinator. During the 2025 season, he helped lead recruiting operations and built a highly successful 2026 recruiting class while continuing to develop offensive skill players and contribute to special teams coordination.
Known for his relentless work ethic, leadership, and ability to build strong relationships with players and recruits, McGarry has earned a reputation as an energetic and driven young coach dedicated to building successful programs and developing student-athletes on and off the field. He holds a Master of Education in Athletic and Activities Administration from Dakota Wesleyan University and a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management with a minor in Business Management from Texas Tech University.
