Eric Caler enters his first season with the Highland football program and will be coaching wide receivers for the Scotties. Caler makes his start in collegiate coaching after having most recently served as an Offensive Coordinator for Advance Prep Academy in 2019. Prior to his time as a coach at APA, Caler was the Offensive Coordinator and Wide Receiver Coach at Westside High school in Jacksonville, FL. Eric has also coached at Firestone High School (Akron, Ohio), Kent Roosevelt High School (Kent, Ohio) along with Field High School, his alma mater, in Brimfield, Ohio.
The Kent, Ohio native attended Kent State University earning his Bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies. While at Kent State he interned with the Track and Field team as an assistant jumps coach. Caler also coached with Ohio Special Olympics for 12 years, coaching basketball for Summit Co. Special Olympics.
Caler is a proud military veteran, having been a member of the Ohio Army National Guard from 2002-2008. As a Specialist, Caler served with the Military Police for a 12 month tour in Iraq as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom 3.
