Jon Oler starts his 2nd season as Head Coach at Highland Community College and his 12th overall, as he was previously assistant since the 2014 season.
Coming off a 19-13 season that ended in the semifinals for the region, the Scotties are poised to make a run at Jayhawk Conference championship with a totally rebuilt squad. Oler during his tenure as a coach at Highland has helped the team to four-straight 20-win seasons including a 26-8 mark in 2017-18 which included a Region VI title and NJCAA Division II National tournament appearance. The 2018-19 season was the best season in school history finishing with a 28-3 record and a Number 1 ranking in the last season poll. His tenure also includes coaching 3 All Americans at Highland, Holden Redparth, Taivey Mason, and Chris Flippin.
Oler came to Highland after being the Head Basketball Coach at Kansas City Kansas Community College for 18 years, 14 as the Head Coach. During that time, he set the school record for all time wins in a season (25), was named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Coach of the year (2011), while coaching nine All-Region players, 14 All-Conference players and one All American.
A graduate of the University of Kansas, Oler and his wife Cristina have four children, Madison, Reece, Abigail, and Ella
