Kelvin Kipkemboi earns "Scottie Athlete of the Week" honors after a strong start to his cross country running career at Highland to open the season at the Augie Twilight.

In the first competition of the season Kipkemboi posted a time of 22:26.17 in a 7K race and finished 19th overall out of 266 runners a group that included several Division I and II runners. His time was the best mark by a NJCAA in action beating all other NJCAA runners in the race by 34 seconds. The freshman helped the Scotties Men’s Cross Country team place 14th out of 23 teams overall, 10th in the College Division and beat all NJCAA schools head-to-head in the race.
