After dropping the first game of the season to Div. I opponent Barton County, the Scotties are on a four game winning streak after last night's win over Wentworth Military Red Dragons.
Freshman guard
Dontre English got things going early for Highland scoring their first seven points of the night. Two break away slam dunks by
Jaquan Daniels in the first half help boost the Scotties to a 40-26 halftime lead.
The Scotties did not cool down after half jumping out to a 20-point lead early in the 2
nd half. Forcing the Red Dragons into 27 turnovers on the night, Highland ran away in the second half out scoring Wentworth 45-24 and finishing with a final score of 85-50.
Dontre English led the Scottie in scoring with 22 points and three steals.
Jaquan Daniels recorded 20 points, seven rebounds and four steals and
Ryan Haskins was the other Scottie in double figures scoring 10 points, dishing out two assists and five steals.
Highland out rebounded the Red Dragons 40-33 and won the turnover war forcing 27 and only giving up 10. The Scotties went 17-24 from the charity stripe while Wentworth hit only 14 out of their 25 attempts from the line.
Highland (4-1) will compete in the HCC Scottie Classic this Friday and Saturday. They take on Midland University JV Friday at 7:00pm and Pure Prep Academy Saturday at 6:00pm. This will be the Scotties first home games of the season.
