Highland, Kan.- With the game tied at 70 a piece, shot clock turned off, Coach Cole put the ball in the hands of freshman point guard
Ryan Haskins. Haskins attacked the basket and knocked down a 5-footer with 4 seconds left to put the Scotties up by two and eventually win the game.
Â
After trailing by five at the half, the Scotties found some momentum half way through the second and took a 13-point lead.
Â
Late three-point shooting and free throws helped the Warriors climb back into the game with just minutes to play. They were able to tie it up with .20 seconds left in the game but it would last long as
Ryan Haskins spoiled their night by hitting the game winner with .4 seconds to go.
Â
Stephon Jackson led Highland in scoring with 16 points shooting 4-8 from behind the arc.
D'Juan Scudder scored 11 points and pulled down 7 rebounds on the night.
Ryan Haskins was the third and final Scottie in double figures with 11.
Â
The Scotties won the rebound battle 37-25 but shot 41% from the free-throw line going 9-22, a stat line they hope to fix before tomorrow.
Â
Highland has won five straight and will take on Pure Prep Academy in the second day of the HCC Scottie Classic tomorrow at 6:00pm.
