The Highland Men's Basketball team recorded their 7
th win of the season with a 105-71 victory over the junior varsity Ottawa University Braves.
The Braves came out firing knocking down three quick three pointers to take an early 21-15 lead over the Scotties half way through the first half.
Highland answered with
Stephon Jackson knocking down two threes and getting a fast break layup to put the Scotties back on top.
D'Juan Scudder went 5-5 in the first half helping the Scotties take a 47-38 lead into the locker room at the half.
After shooting 8-18 from behind the arc in the first half, Highland held the Braves to only shooting 15% (2-13) from three in the second half. The Scotties also forced 13 second half turnovers and out rebounded the Braves 21-16 in the last 20 minutes, a defensive presence that was not there in the first half.
Highland's solid defense led to a better offensive performance for the Scotties shooting 43% (6-14) from the arc in the second half and 56% from the field.
D'Juan Scudder led the Scotties to a 105-71 victory with his 16 point, three rebound performance. Six other Scotties scored in double digits on the night;
Stephon Jackson had another solid shooting night scoring 15 points,
Danmons O'Connor and
Ryan Haskins both put up 13 each, Haskins also dished out eight assists (season high).
Dontre English and
Jaquan Daniels both chalked up 12 points each and five and four rebounds apiece and
Collin Jasper added in 10.
Highland moves to 7-1 on the year and will play On Point Hoops Academy (Prep School) on Saturday, November 26
th at 3:00pm form Ben Allen Field House.
