Box Score Highland baseball team has hit the bye week from Conference play but are still slated for plenty of action on the diamond as the Scotties travelled to Trenton, MO on Tuesday for a single nine inning contest against North Central Missouri College.
Scotties offense continued to struggle as Highland was able to only muster two hits and fell 11-1 in eight innings to North Central Missouri College falling to 2-31 on the season.
North Central Missouri opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a run in the bottom of the first inning behind three hits including a pair of doubles. The Scotties answered in a big way in the top of the second as
Conner Fiene blasted a solo home run knotting the game up at 1-1. NCMC swung the lead back to their side with as they answered with a run in the bottom of the second and then another in the fourth and led 3-1 through four innings.
Scotties saw NCMC expand their lead in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings with three, two and three runs, respectively in those innings to secure them a 11-1 eight inning win.
Scotties in the loss had only two hits with Fiene hitting his home run and
Victor Sanchez getting a hit, while
Dalton Burt drew a walk. On the mound
Dylan Arnett took the loss tossing five innings surrendering five runs on five hits and five walks, while striking out three.
Drake Seetin,
Austin Gottula and
Blake Robinson all made an appearance on the mound, also.
Highland is back in action in non-conference play on Thursday, April 11
th against Baker University JV as they will play them on the road in Baldwin City, KS and then host Baker JV on Saturday, April 13
th.
