For the seventh time the Highland softball team is making the trip to the National tournament after winning the Region VI District E title.
The fifth ranked Scotties head into the NJCAA Division II Softball National Championship in Clinton, Mississippi with a 33-10 record and are the #4 seed in the tournament.
Highland will open the tournament on Wednesday, May 22
nd at 1:30pm against the #13 seed, Kankakee catch the game on the Scottie Sports Network. The tournament is a double elimination and features 16 teams.
The Scotties have put together a season to remember as they look to add to it with their performance in the National Tournament. Highland captures a share of the KJCCC DII title and won the Region VI District E title by going 3-0 in the tournament. On the year the Scotties have been ranked in the NJCAA DII Top 20 all season and ranked #14 or better putting them in the polls for 20 straight rankings.

Heidi Jordan and
Scott Jordan claimed their 500
th career win at Highland on March 9
th against Coastal Alabama-Bay Minette (7-5) and won their 250
th KJCCC win versus Coffeyville on April 4
th (8-1). Individually eight Scotties earned All-Conference honors marking the most in a season under Heidi and Scott, while six players also picked up All-Region honors.
On the year Highland is averaging 8.2 runs per game on 9.9 hits per game, while giving up 4.3 runs per game on 6.9 hits per game. Offensively the Scotties are hitting .360 as a team with 354 runs scored on 427 hits. Inside the circle the Scotties have a team ERA of 4.11 with 135 strikeouts and an opponent batting average of .289.Â
Highland leads the KJCCC in stolen bases and has a single season team record with 138 stolen bases on the season, which is also good for sixth most in the Nation. Scotties also lead the Conference in hit by pitch and shutouts marks that rank third and 21
st in the Nation. Highland also ranks in the Top five in the KJCCC in batting average (second), runs (third), on base percentage (fourth) and RBI's (fifth).
Eager to write the final chapter to the season the Highland softball team is ready to get the National tournament rolling. The Scotties will attend the banquet to kick off the tournament on Tuesday night before getting the game action rolling on Wednesday.
