Highland Football team faced their first nationally ranked opponent of the year in the #3 Garden City Broncbusters and fell 0-58 on the road at Conestoga Arena yesterday.
Garden City dominated the scoreboard as well as the statistics. The Broncbusters rushed for 234 yards on 45 carries, while the Scotties finished the game with -12 rushing yards on 32 carries. Garden City finished the day with 474 yards of total offense and Highland finished with 139 yards.
Freshman quarterback
Quinn Buessing did manage to throw for 145 yards, but he was sacked 5 times and also threw 2 interceptions. The highlight of the Scotties offense for the day came on a Buessing pass to
Raequan Prince for 76 yards. Prince finished the day with 123 receiving yards.
Several key defensive players were missing from action on Saturday for the Scotties. Defensive starters
Major Weems and
Jaylin White were listed as out for yesterday's contest and starter Jay Williams left the game with an injury and did not return.
