Leavenworth, KS ─ The Highland Community College Cross Country team opened their season with two Scotties competing at the Spire Sunset Showdown hosted by the  University of St. Mary on Sept 2. Head Track and Field/Cross Country Coach Kathy Graham was hired 4 weeks prior to the first meet.

The two Scotties that competed were Sam Pyle and Tyrese Bishop. They both are making great progress in laying a great foundation for the year and for the teams which will follow. No women competed for Highland.

Coach Graham added, "The athletes have been a pleasure to work with. They are doing everything I have asked of them. They are laying a great foundation for themselves, this team and the future of cross country at Highland. Their times and places will come as a result of their dedication. We just need some patience."
