Last Week's Recap…

The Scottie harriers traveled to Allen Community College on Saturday for the Firestarter Classic Meet. The Lady Scotties were paced by a pair of freshmen. Samantha Presas (Midlothian, Tex.) and Annabel Reyes (Harlingen, Tex.) finished 28th and 29th respectively. On the men's side, freshman Jean Duparay (France) again led the Scotties with a 55th place finish.

The Scottie volleyball team was in action at Allen Community College on Wednesday night. The road woes continued for the Scotties as the Red Devils took a 3-0 win. The loss dropped the Scotties to 6-12 overall and 3-5 in KJCCC play.

The Highland Community College football team hosted the Independence Community College Pirates on Saturday afternoon. The Scotties started the scoring off with a first quarter touchdown by Eddie Whipple (Daytona Beach, Fla.) with a one-yard run. Freshman Adonis Coyle (St. Mary, Ga.) kicked the point after to give the Scotties a 7-0 lead.

In the second quarter, the Pirates answered with a 34-yard touchdown pass on what looked to be a busted play to knot the game at 7-7. The Scotties finally took the lead for good in the fourth quarter when Coyle connected on a 20-yard field goal that eventually gave Highland the victory.

Sophomore quarterback Tysan Robbins (Orlando, Fla.) threw for 120-yards on 13 completions, including two interceptions. His favorite target on the day was freshman Benson Prosper (Miami, Fla.) with eight catches for 56-yards. On the ground, freshman running back Gavin Fellingham (Olathe) led the Scotties with 18-yards on nine carries.

Defensively, sophomore linebacker Michael Hourel Jr. (Andalusia, Ala.) led Highland with 10 total stops, including five solo and a half sack. Freshman linebacker Braden Sullivan (New Smyrna Beach, Fla.) had eight total stops with five solo.

The win is the Scotties' fourth in a row, the longest such streak since 2014. It also snaps a four-game losing streak to the Pirates and the seven points allowed was the fewest by Indy since 2015. The Scotties are now 5-3 overall and 3-2 in Jayhawk Conference play.
