Box Score PERU, Neb. - Opening the season against a solid NAIA JV squad, Highland (1-0) rolled to a dominant win over Peru State College on Sunday. All 12 Scotties scored on the night, with
DJ Thomas picking up a double-double with 12 pts and 10 reb.
Highland raced out to a 39-22 halftime lead against the Bobcats, then flirted with a 100-point pace early in the second before cooling down to finish with a 41-point margin.
The Scotties finished with a 42.9 percent shooting mark on the afternoon (33-77) and connected on 21 of 30 free throws.
Colton Knoll led the Scotties with 19 points, with
Tavian Tate adding 18 and
Xavier Ikemefuna joining Thomas in double-digits with 10.
Highland continues its four-game road trip to open the season, heading to no. 8 North Central Missouri College on Tuesday. Tipoff against the Pirates is set for 7 p.m.
