Scotties Sweep Cardinals on The Road

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 After being defeated by Labette on Thursday at home, the Scotties bounced back on Saturday with two victories on the road at Labette.
The Scotties jumped on the Cardinals early in Game One, scoring three runs in the first to take a three-run lead, Tanner Dungan would hold the Cardinals scoreless through four innings until giving up a run in the 5th. The Cardinals would score two more and tie the game in the bottom of the 6th, neither team was able to score in the 7th inning so they headed into extra innings.
 
In the Top of the 9th, Keishon Brown would hit a double that, after two throwing errors, would result in an inside the park Homerun, giving the Scotties a 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the 9th. Stachys McLoud would pop up one, and strike out two, giving the Scotties a 4-3 victory in extra innings.

Stachys McLoud was credited with the win pitching 3 2/3 innings giving up three hits and striking out four.
 
Game Two saw a similar start for the Scotties as they jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead after the first three innings. Jace Burdette kept the Cardinals in check while the Scottie offense kept hitting the ball. A Jake Hanson RBI double would score Mitchell Austin, giving Highland the 7-0 lead and Brian Taylor would answer with a three run Homer to Left field, boosting the Scottie lead to 10-0 after four innings.
 
Keishon Brown would find his way around the bases after hitting a triple that turned into a score, after a throwing error at 3rd. The Scotties would give up 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning, 2 more in the 6th and 1 in the 7th, but it wasn't enough as the Scotties went on to win 12-9, splitting the four-game series 2-2 with the Cardinals.

Jake Hanson went 2-5 with three RBI's and one run scored. Mitchell Austin had a great second game batting going 4-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Brian Taylor also hit three RBI's in game two. Jace Burdette earned the victory and Rafael Lara was credited with the save.
 
The Scotties are now 8-7 and will be back in action Tuesday afternoon as they play North Central Missouri at Missouri Western State University. They will play one 9-inning game, first pitch thrown at 2 pm.
