Tigers Secure Four Game Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 The Highland Scottie baseball team faced the #2 seed in the KJCCC East Cowley County Community College Tigers on Thursday, April 13 and Saturday, April 15th.

THURSDAY

The Tigers were on fire from the beginning scoring nin runs in the game before Mitchell Austin hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning to score Adam Miner. With the bases loaded, Hanson got walked and would bring a Scottie home making the score 2-9. The Scotties left three stranded and with three more runs scored by Cowley the game would end in five innings 2-12 in favor of the Tigers.
In game two that afternoon the Scotties put forward some action with Grubaugh hitting a sacrifice fly in the second inning to score Nagle and Tony Nichols hit a two RBI single to center field to close the gap early 3-4. The gap stayed close in the third as Nagle hit a two RBI home run over the right field fence keeping it a close 7-6 game. The Tigers got hot yet again and put eight more runs on the board before Highland was able to answer back in the seventh inning with an RBI single by Austin. Nagle hit a second home run in the game in the eight inning but the Tigers would clench the game 18-8.

SATURDAY

The Highland Scotties traveled down to Parsons, Kansas to finish the four game series on the Tigers field and could not come through that afternoon. Game one ended with a 10-0 score in five innings. Game two the Scotties were able to get two on the board in the sixth and seventh innings but would end in seven innings with a score of 13-2.

The Highland baseball team will play on Tuesday, April 18th against MCC Maplewoods in a one-nine inning game starting at 2:00PM at Highland Community Ballpark. The Scotties are now 15-29 on the year and 6-22 in conference play.
